Student@IT Association new Session has been inagurated.

Chennai, Jan. 31. Student@IT Association (SITA) came together on January 30, 2010 to inaugurate the new IT Session for this academic year. Mr Stanislaus Ernoult, President, Association of Friends of Fr Francis Guezou graced the vocation as the Chief Guest.

SITA is a student body of BIIT coordinated by the faculty to update students on the latest IT trends. The vision of this student wing is: Up With Knowledge. SITA sessions will be facilitated by the Coordinators and reviewed by the Student Secretaries and evaluated by the Guest Lectures.

The SITA Session for this semester was inaugurated with presenting 10 themes that are making impact on IT world today. The inauguration ceremony has begun with a prayer song, by first-years students.  Mr. Stanislaus - the president of the Friends association of Father Francis Guezou (in France) - presided over this inaugural function as Chief Guest. In his address to the gathering, he encouraged the BIIT students to be diligent in their learning.

SITA Secretary presented the Plan of Action for this Semester. As per the plan, all students were divided into 10 study groups and each of the group was given a topic of importance to the current IT world.

The chosen topics were:
1. Knowledge Management Technologies
2. Multimedia Systems
3. Biometrics
4. Robotics
5. Distributed Computing
6. E-Governance
7. Web Technologies
8. Bio Informatics
9. Networking and security
10. Healthcare Technologies

Student representative from each groups, briefly presented their topic by expositing concept, technology, tools, application and case study. This presentation was comprehensively evaluated by Fr Thaddeus, Director, BIIT.

PLAN OF ACTION FOR SITA

Industrial Visit for Third-Year Students:

This year, along with the symposium, an Industrial Visit has been planned for the third-year students to acquire exposure and knowledge on industries today.

Tech-Show
---------------------------------
Apart from the regular seminars, students will have an extra-activity called, Tech Show to capture the latest technologies and bring it to the awareness of the Students.

Intra-Collegiate IT Fest
---------------------------------
An intra-collegiate IT Fest is planned to be conducted on April 10, 2010. Plans are being charted to conduct programs that test the knowledge and skills of our budding IT professionals.

Tech Expo
---------------------------------
A Tech Expo will be organized by the students during the Yelagiri Summer Festival. District Collector is invited to assess the students` performance on that day.

Technical Paper Presentation
---------------------------------
Of course, as part of these regular sessions, students will have their Technical Paper Presentation on the applications of topics covered during the SITA symposium which will be evaluated by the faculty coordinators.


The SITA groups will organize their symposium on the designated date assigned to them. We wish and hope that we would all work together to make these sessions a wonderful teaching-learning experience.
